first_imgKolkata: Two youths have been arrested for allegedly eve teasing and assaulting a young woman in front of Pavlov Hospital on Monday night. The accused persons were arrested late on Tuesday night and the scooter, which they were riding at the time of the crime, was also seized.According to sources, on Monday night around 10 pm, the victim woman was walking on the road in front of Pavlov Hospital. All of a sudden two youths riding a scooter started teasing her. When she protested, they allegedly assaulted her and fled the scene. Despite being assaulted, woman memorised the last four digits of the registration number of their vehicle. A case was immediately lodged on charges of 354D (stalking), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 114 (abettor present when offence is committed) of the IPC and sleuths started looking for the accused youths. Also Read – Lightning kills 8, injures 16 in stateAfter a detailed probe, sleuths got hold of the scooter’s full registration number and late on Tuesday night police arrested two youths identified as Iven Chowhan alias Abhishek and Zulfikar Khan alias Gullu of Beniapukur from their homes. The scooter belongs to Chowhan and he was the rider. Khan was sitting on the pillion seat and he was the prime accused in the case. Both of them reportedly confessed to the crime. In a separate incident, another person was arrested on Tuesday night, for allegedly teasing a woman near Vivekananda Road Post Office on Bidhan Sarani. The woman alleged that while she was walking along the Bidhan Sarani the accused person identified as Partha Sarathi Ganguly of Belgachhia was continuously teasing her. She immediately called up the police control room and sought help. After being informed by the control room, police personnel from Amherst Street police station rushed to the spot and arrested him.last_img
