Umphrey’s McGee Debuts “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” With Jen Hartswick At RRX [Photo/Video]

first_imgOn Saturday night, Umphrey’s McGee finished off their three-night Red Rocks Amphitheatre run, closing their stellar and slightly late 4th of July celebration with a bang. After a dance-oriented first night on Thursday supported by Lotus and a shred-heavy Friday night show supported by Papadosio, the band came primed and ready to end their Red Rocks run on a high note.Following an inspired performance by openers The Record Company, Umphrey’s McGee took the stage, opening the show with a combination of “Gurge” into “Dump City”. A highlight of the first set was the band’s take on “Women Wine and Song”, a tune the group revived after almost a year and gap of 76 shows, which was used to jump into “Example 1”. After takes on “Rocker Part 2” and “Seasons”, the group ended their first set with a take on “Ocean Billy”.“Ocean Billy” Load remaining images Photo: Andrew Rios [Video: Gregory Marcus]You can check out a gallery of photos from Umphrey’s McGee’s run-closing performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday below, courtesy of Andrew Rios.Setlist: Umphrey’s McGee | Red Rocks Amphitheatre | Morrison, CO | 7/7/2018Set 1: Gurgle > Dump City, Maybe Someday, Women Wine and Song > Example 1, Rocker Part 2, Seasons, Ocean BillySet 2: Hindsight, Wappy Sprayberry > Ringo, Utopian Fir[1], Slacker, Total Eclipse of the Heart [2]Encore: All In Time[1] with Sweet Emotion (Aerosmith) tease[2] debut, Bonnie Tyler; with Jen Hartswick on vocals and trumpetUmphrey’s McGee | Red Rocks Amphitheatre | Morrison, CO | 7/7/2018 | Photo: Andrew Rioscenter_img Photo: Andrew Rios; from 7/7/18 at Red Rocks [Video: Gregory Marcus]However, the major standout moment of the night came during the second set when Umphrey’s McGee invited out fan-favorite vocalist and trumpeter, Jennifer Hartswick, best known for her work with Trey Anastasio Band. Closing out the second set, Hartswick offered her strong vocal talents for the band’s debut of “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, the hit 1983 Bonnie Tyler tune.
