Former Bantam Flyer dedicating year to hockey development

first_imgFormer Fort St. John Bantam Flyer Lien Miller-Jeannotte took part in the Kelowna Rockets rookie evaluation camp over the summer, and will dedicate this year to the development of his hockey abilities. Lauren Frey, Director of Player Personnel and Assistant General Manager talked about Miller-Jeanotte’s development, saying that at the beginning of camp it looked like he had been off his skates for a little while. However, he improved dramatically as camp progressed and even moved up from the rookie camp to the Rockets main camp.   He said Miller-Jeannotte’s ability to play at this level is coming along, but he needs to focus on becoming a more intense player with regards to battles within the game. He also said the club was very impressed with the significant amount of improvement that Lien displayed regarding his skills and skating abilities. He mentioned how the club was impressed with his two-way play and how he could contribute to the team in other areas besides scoring goals.- Advertisement – With regards to actually making the Western Hockey League team, Frey said the chance is there down the road if he continues to grow and develop as a hockey player. This year, Miller-Jeannotte has decided to play at the under 18 Pursuit of Excellence, a hockey academy located in Kelowna.  Frey said this was a wise choice, as the team can now monitor him and evaluate his development. Next year, Lien Miller-Jeannotte will have to attend another Kelowna Rockets tryout and evaluation camp, and depending on his development, he may sometime in the near future don a Rockets Uniform.Advertisement In May, Lien Miller-Jeannotte was selected 169th overall by the Rockets in the eighth round.last_img read more
